About

Tanya is an artist and designer living between Joburg and the Umbabat, Hoedspruit. She grew up in the bushveld, where she became an obsessive birder and lover of all things found in nature from a very early age. She is particularly fascinated by the patterns, textures and behaviours of wild things found in the South African bush, and she carries this into her art and design work. Tanya paints primarily in Oils and Watercolour. Tanya studied Design and Drawing at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town. After graduating she further studied new media design and and became a website designer, winning a Gold Lorie award for her Madam & Eve website. She then worked in London as a designer for a few years before travelling and living in the Far East, and then becoming a full-time yoga teacher. In 2016 Tanya began teaching herself oil painting and has been focusing on making wildlife art since then. In 2023 she began to build her own design brand and concept that brings the beauty of South African bushveld fauna and flora into people's homes. This is when she first began to paint in watercolour and found that she absolutely loves the detail and vibrant colour the medium allows. Tanya’s watercolour paintings are the foundation for her fabric and product designs. She is obsessed with sharing her experience of the beauty of nature through her art and design, to remind people that it is such an important part of our existence on this planet. She believes that art and design helps to keep people connected to our natural world, by bringing it into our homes and reminding us of its existence, when we can’t be outside in it. She loves to connect with other like-minded people who share her vision of the natural world and who believe in the absolute necessity of preserving and protecting as much of it as possible
